“Too old for youth group and uncomfortable with labels, college aged and twenty-something Christians become disconnected from faith. Almost imperceptibly, they become less and less involved in church and faith and, eventually absent altogether. Yet as these young people face critical decisions that affect the rest of their lives, they need their faith communities more than ever.” --Reggie Joiner (The Slow Fade)
Somewhere between 65 and 80 percent of students who grow up in church stop attending church altogether when they reach college. This alarming trend is one we want to slow and eventually stop altogether. Because of this we are now focusing on developing ministry for young adults that helps them face their “critical decisions” by providing them an opportunity to do life together with Christians their age and the church as a whole. Currently we have the following opportunities for them to plug in:
- College age small group: Meets Tuesdays at 7:30
- Growth Groups: There are many opportunities for those of any age to join a small group.
- Young Adult Class: Sundays at 11:00 (Coming fall of 2011)
- Twenty-something Gatherings: These are social events for those single or newly married.
- Thirty-something Gatherings: These are social events for those single or married.
